Team and Enterprise feature

This feature is available only for the Team and Enterprise plans. To get started, reach out to support@buildwithfern.com.

Export your documentation as a PDF directly from the Fern Dashboard. The generated PDF includes a cover page, table of contents with clickable links, and all content pages with headers and footers.

Export your documentation

1

Open the Dashboard

In the Fern Dashboard, navigate to the Overview tab. Click the ⋮ (vertical ellipsis) menu in the top-right corner and select Export as PDF.

2

Customize export settings

Customize your PDF:

  • Product and/or version: If your site has products or versions, select the product and/or version to export. You can export one version of one product at any given time.
  • Cover title and subtitle: Defaults to your Fern Docs site title and subtitle. You can customize or hide these.
  • Cover footer: Toggle the “Generated by Fern” footer on the cover page.
  • Headers and footers: Add text to the top or bottom of each content page using templates with {pageIndex} and {totalPages} placeholders. Customize the position (right or left).
3

Export

Select Export as PDF to start the export. Large sites may take a few minutes — you can safely close the page. You’ll receive an email when the export is complete.

4

Download

When the export completes, click Open to download the PDF. You can also view past PDF exports.
