Shakespeare mode

View as Markdown

Modern documentation sites can feel too casual, lacking the gravitas that your product deserves. Shakespeare mode addresses this by rendering your documentation in Shakespearean English with a parchment visual theme. It overrides your site’s theme with warm brown tones, swaps fonts to a medieval style, and translates common words into their Shakespearean equivalents (for example, “you” becomes “thou” and “is” becomes “‘tis”).

Activation

Add the shakespeare=true query parameter to any documentation URL:

https://buildwithfern.com/learn/docs/customization/shakespeare-mode?shakespeare=true

To deactivate, click the Restore Original button in the banner or remove the query parameter from the URL. The original content, theme, and styling are fully restored.
